Buy Handmade

There's been a huge outpouring of support for buying handmade this holiday season...and to support small businesses...and why not - these gifts are not only unique, but their purchase strengthens local communities and supports artists.

This past weekend was teeming with community bazaars/artist shows/holiday fairs...whatever you call them, there was a flurry of activity...especially the one I attended...handcrafted candles, artisan soaps, beaded jewelry, carved wooden bowls, felted purses...really, something for everyone on your list.  I went to this particular show to support a friend and to foster creativity, whatever its form, wherever it exists...

  1. Enjoyed your post on the craft fair in Lake Stevens. I'm one of the friends (Montana) that was there with Liz and Cindy for their snowman show. :) We visited your darling space in Snowhomish last Sunday. Fun!!!!

It all reminded me of "Farm Chicks" in Spokane. Went for the first time last June, I hear you and Liz might attend next year too.

I'll be blogging on Liz' snowmen soon...stay tuned.

    Nice to meet you!

  2. Sales of the handmade seemed brisk in my area, which made me happy indeed. My shopping was mostly done months ago--I've been giving my loved ones pieces of art for years, and when I come across something I love in a gallery or booth, I snap it up and put it away. Spreads the budget out a little more evenly, too!
