it seems as if the world wants to quiet down...
The mornings have been silent...and chilly...a moment frozen in time...
the spider web seems to mimic the rusty springs of my garden art...
Inside the house, the christmas decorations are put away...but the skeleton keys that were hanging on my grapevine tree are still around...and the amber bottles now hold dried seed pods instead of cedar branches and tiny glass ornaments...
Nothing too bright, bold or brash...time to reflect and plan...
And gear up for the next project...

Indeed. Although things have not really quieted down in my neck of the woods. Just when I think it might...something else comes up! We're having spring like days right now...thunderstorms and heavy rain. Where's winter??
ReplyDeleteI agree, and I love it when things calm down and new beginnings... Over here we have rain and things are melting, kind of feels like spring but I know this is just a stage between and I really hope the cold winter days will come back again. Love your pictures yet again, and your decor. The spider web is brilliant with all the drops frozen to it, but I just have to ask... where did you get that lovely tea cup, is it antique?
ReplyDeleteHappy New Years!!!!
yes, photographing frozen spider webs is wonderfully textural...and my brown transferware tea cup is antique...picked it up a couple of years ago...its missing its saucer, but I love it so!
DeleteJust this year, I decided that I actually like January. It's always seemed dreary before but now I see it as calm and full of potential too. Great post!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful quote and the picture is fabulous. You really have an eye for balance, color and position.
ReplyDeletethanks Karen - appreciate it!
DeleteBeautiful post Amy!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the visit, beautiful post... : )
ReplyDeleteI love your giant thimbles! Where did you ever find them?
ReplyDeleteBeth - the giant thimbles were a christmas present from my sister...they were one of the first items I "pinned" when I started on Pinterest...she had a heck of a time tracking them down since they aren't carried anymore by the original store...but she know they would be perfect for me since I have quite a sewing thimble collection!
DeleteHow lovely this is, Amy! Stillness is one reason I love winter...I tend to hibernate a little and slow down some. Love the quote photo you made...had to pin it!
ReplyDeleteAmy, how very beautiful! You have a wonderful eye for detail and your photographs are inspirational.
ReplyDeleteMorning Amy, I agree with all of the above comments. Wonderful photos and your words are so serene. I hope you are keeping a journal of your musings.
ReplyDeletethanks Emilou - yes, I am keeping a journal of my musings...its my blog and its one of the reasons why I started it!
